The Ponytail Softball League is a "developmental" youth softball league
supported by Softball Manitoba. The purpose of the league is to provide an
opportunity for players to receive more skill development while continuing to
play during the summer months. Our emphasis is on the component of B/C
players who want to choose softball as a sport of focus and are looking for more softball than is currently offered by B/C community club and community teams around the province. While the focus in on B/C players, A players will be
allowed to register as long as a competitive balance is maintained.

1.      The mandate of the league is fun, skill development, fair play and
fair competition.

2.      All participants are required to register and play in regular Softball Manitoba programs. Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis (e.g. player moving to province in July).

3.      League play will only begin once that age category B&C provincials are completed and will run until either late August or early September

4.      Teams will be formed after the final registration date but no access to players will be permitted from the 3rd Sunday in June until the completion of Provincials.

5.      Teams will be formed in consultation with the leagues in the region they represent.

6.      Play will be organized to limit travel. For example, weekend round robins.

7.      Players must come from the region of residence. Players who try out and do not make a team in their Region may request a release from the League Commissioner to play in a different region.

8.      Emphasis will be placed on selection of qualified and committed coaches. Because this is a development league in is important that coaches be able to teach individual and team skills.

9.      Teams will carry a minimum of 13 players (exceptions must be approved by league).
